Nano-hydroxyapatite is suddenly everywhere — on toothpaste labels, dental TikToks, and wellness blogs. But most people have no idea what it actually does, or whether the percentage on the label even matters. Here's the honest breakdown.


Your teeth are already made of this

Hydroxyapatite isn't a lab invention. It's the mineral your enamel is made of — about 97% of it, in fact. Your body already knows it, uses it, and responds to it naturally.

The "nano" part refers to particle size. Nano-hydroxyapatite (nHAp) particles are sized between 20 and 100 nanometers — small enough to match the scale of your natural enamel crystals. Regular hydroxyapatite particles are up to 500 times larger and simply can't penetrate enamel the same way. That size difference is everything.
